Data collection
We fetch each tool's official pricing page or website directly. Our automated collector records the URL fetched, the HTTP status code, the date of the request, and what percentage of the page was processed. No data comes from vendor submissions, press releases, or third-party databases.
What we extract
From each page we attempt to extract: pricing model (enterprise, per-seat, or public rates), individual plan names and prices, free trial availability, and integration information. Each extracted field is stored with a confidence level. Fields we couldn't find on the page are left blank — we don't fill in gaps with assumptions.
| Field | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Extracted | From official pricing page |
| Plan prices | Extracted where public | Many enterprise tools don't publish rates |
| Free trial | Extracted | Verified against official offer |
| Integrations | Partial | Large pages often not fully read |
| Categories | Editorial | Assigned based on described functionality |
| Practice areas | Editorial | Assigned based on described target users |
Pricing blocked by robots.txt
Some tools (Gavel, Drafty.ai, Luminance) disallow automated access via their robots.txt. For these tools we link directly to their official pricing page and note that pricing couldn't be verified automatically. The profile exists so you can find and evaluate the tool; you'll need to check pricing directly.
Classification
Categories (Legal Research, Contract Drafting, etc.) and practice area assignments are editorial — we assign them based on the tool's described functionality, not vendor taxonomy. They are provisional and may be updated as we refine our data.
The Graveyard
Discontinued and acquired tools are preserved in the Graveyard. Discontinuation is verified against public announcements, the tool's website returning an error, or confirmed acquisition news. We include the acquiring company and the year the tool closed where known.
What we don't claim
We do not claim real-time or daily updates. Each profile shows the date it was last verified. Pricing and availability can change after that date — always verify directly with the vendor before making purchasing decisions.
